Open Art devise and deliver projects that help nurture healthy, happy and buoyant communities and neighbourhoods.

We believe that the way to get to know a community is one person at a time and that building good relationships and facilitating positive experiences has a cumulative effect, for the individual involved and from one person to the next. In one way or another, creativity offers opportunity - to explore, experiment, change, grow, develop, transform, learn, reflect, question, communicate and enjoy.

We also believe that creative projects offer an opportunity for mutually beneficial shared experiences that can help replace the lost and lamented collective community efforts and social gatherings that were so important in community life in years passed. Today we live in different times but through this approach we believe that social capacity can develop again and that with time and effort community spirit can flourish.

Open Art believe that characteristics commonly found in artists and creative people can be usefully nurtured in individuals and in communities – open mindedness, curiosity, resilience, self discipline, imagination, inventiveness. These are qualities that help us all cope and do well in life.

Open Art work with a range of services who work in neighbourhoods and communities and together we create real and tangible changes, upward rather than downward spirals, to how people feel about themselves, their communities and the services who work with them.
