If the achievements of individuals belong to the community that raised them, then Deighton has more than its fair share to
be proud of.
Deighton, like many other places, has for many years faced challenges. This project celebrates the success of Deighton and the surrounding areas in the face of those challenges by looking at the lives of ordinary people, young and old, the things they do, have done or aspire to do.
The project was designed to identify individuals from the last 50 years of Deighton’s History, who could be seen as role models for the young people of Deighton today.

The project was designed to identify individuals from the last 50 years of Deighton’s History, who could be seen as role models for the young people of Deighton today.
The project involved:
- Working with pupils at local schools to explore their future aspirations and express these through short films and animations
- Tracking down pupils who attended Deighton High School between 1954-1997 in order to explore their personal successes and achievements
- Working with older members of the community to look at their personal success in the past, but just as importantly, how they continue to act as positive role models because of how they live their lives today
- An exhibition/event to showcase the findings of the project and bring the community together
