Spectator Seat
The development of the sports pitch on the Cowlersley Estate provided an excellent opportunity to create some seating with a difference. Following Kate’s door-to-door discussions and a number of workshops with children and young people sofas and chairs came out number one as the best place to watch sports from. So we decided to take the inside, out.
Artist Stephen Burke designed and carved a sofa and two chairs out of stone and young people in the area carved the matching rug. The sculpture can now be seen pitch side where it is used by the local community (and their pets – who are particularly attracted to the rug!).
